My old thread had just reached 100 posts, so rather than suffer the wrath of the dbmod beat down stick, I am starting a new thread. eek

I also deviated from the sequel titles and created a new one. It's a good description of what it feels like to me. Folks around here have said it's a marathon, not a sprint. For me, that's not necessarily a bad thing. When I started this journey, I felt like I was beating the clock. My W was on the D fast track. I think she was hoping to be D'd in no less than 2 months. Well, it's been a little more than 5 months, and I am still here. I hope that encourages some that may be on the beginning of their journey and feeling like they're trying to beat the clock like I did.

I left off in my old thread where I was taking my S down to my W's apartment tonight. She was originally supposed to pick him up here. She ended up showing some houses to a couple and writing up an offer. After a few texts and re-arranging my "busy" schedule, I agreed to do it. She just sent a text. "Perfect! Thanks for helping out!"

I took my S down the apartment. Turned out to be an interesting visit. I just was upbeat and positive with her, as I think I've been pretty consistently. I hung around for about 45 minutes. For a lot of the conversation, I was telling her about a lot my GAL activities: Running the 5K, taking my S to the festival, the upcoming mission trip, another potential mission trip, going for a bike ride with a group of people from the bike shop tomorrow night, being a group leader for VBS at my church.

She made some interesting remarks, some of these several times:
- "My H has turned into this social butterfly"
- "You're really changing"
- "Every time I see you, you are just so happy" (I just replied to this one with, "Yeah, I'm making a good choice - to be happy"
- "You are doing all of these things, and I'm just sitting at home."
- "This is really weird, I don't know what's going on with you"

It was fun cool

There was no M talk, no R talk.

Also, she talked about some things in the future, but right now, they don't include me. But it's kind of what I expect at this point. She was talking about opening a candy shop and living in the apartment above it. Things like that.

Overall, a very positive interaction. After about 45 minutes, I just got up. ("Gotta go. Busy day tomorrow!")

No D paperwork today. Could be on its way tomorrow. I hope she is starting to see what she's leaving. If she doesn't, though, this GAL'ing and upbeat and positive attitude is really helping with my mental health. Other people are noticing...

You're absolutely right. They may thank me, but heck, I want to thank them more for letting me help them!

Superb, jb. I'm happy to read that your W is sitting up and noticing The New jb.

Your GAL activities inspire me to work on my own GAL activities. Regardless of the outcome, we will be OK, I think.

Blessings to you and your S on this fine day (well, it's fine here in PA...80s and beautiful clear skies)

Today is starting off slow, and that's fine with me. My S is with my W today. She is going be hanging out with her family and his favorite cousin. I'll have to say I miss getting together with her family right now. In the early years of our M, I would complain about getting together with her family. Over the years, I had changed and I really came to appreciate her family.

Tonight, I am planning on meeting up with a group that meets at the local bike shop and goes for a ride. It'll be the first time I've done this. So, if I pull this off, I will be riding in the daylight for the first time this week. I'm still sore from softball on Monday, but when I rode last night under the stars, it really didn't seem to affect me.

Yes, exactly. There's no course map. There's no mile markers. There's more than one finish line.

I don't mean to make light. I've run 5 marathons and I know when those end.
