Case Consultation

Michele offers case consultation over the phone to out-of-state/country therapists who are in need of additional input and insight about challenging clinical situations.  Her consultation style is solution-focused, respectful and informational.

Additionally, when therapists feel they have hit major impasses, they refer couples to Michele’s 2-day intensive program to help them get “unstuck.”  Michele consults with referring therapists to facilitate their on-going relationship with their clients when they return home.

Books

Following training with Steve de Shazer at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, WI in 1982, Michele became part of the team that developed the Solution-Focused Brief Therapy Model that is now practiced by clinicians worldwide.

In 1989, Michele and co-author Bill O’Hanlon’s groundbreaking book- In Search of Solutions: A New Direction in Psychotherapy- was published. This classic text for mental health professionals and graduate students outlined a guide to their innovative therapy model, Solution-Oriented Therapy.

Many of Michele’s trade books such as, Divorce Busting and The Sex-Starved Marriage have been used as texts in undergraduate and graduate courses.  Her most recent self-help book- Healing from Infidelity- is used by many therapists as an adjunct to their therapy practices with couples who are dealing with the aftermath of affairs.

Additionally, Michele has authored and co-authored articles in many professional journals including Family Process, The Journal of Marital and Family Therapy and The Psychotherapy Networker.
