((((Karen)))))

I hope your first day back at work is going swimmingly! HA! Swimmingly! Is it pouring down your direction too? All of my references today seem to be leaning toward boats, swimming, or requiring floaties!

Had a great first day of work. Turns out there were 800 applications turned in for the job, they interviewed 200 people!, and hired 80 of us. We are all going to be training together for 3 months. It reminds me of college. I've made good friends already with some of the people sitting around me. One of the women sitting next to me will be in my work group in future, and she went through what we did: my age, a 22-year marriage, philandering guy, etc. It's a great group of people. Apparently, they are the only state agency hiring in my state b/c they're federally funded, and if they don't, the state has to send back the money, and they said they don't do that!

The trainers have all been there 30+ years, and seem really happy with their jobs. There's room for promotion and it sounds like a great place to work. But it's prob. hard to say one day into it...

I feel like a real grownup now. We had a Christmas party Friday night, then I went shopping just for me on Saturday. Got clothes to wear to go out, jewelry, makeup, etc. I plan to join a gym too. That's one 180 I've kind of dropped the ball on, so I'm trying to pick that one back up.

Dropped the kids off Saturday and then went out last night, clubbing with a friend. crazy Ok, I felt like an alien. They all seem to be heavy drinkers and just interested in "hooking up" so I was so out of my element. I was so happy to get back home (at 2 am!) and be with my pets, and enjoy the quiet. I'm glad I've got a Christmas party tonight with my Sunday school class; much more my kind of thing!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!!!

Hi Karen!
How are things going now a few more days into it?

I know how you feel. Last time I went out, the only guy that spoke to me was a drunk 12-year-old (at least that's how old he looked to me!) in need of some "motherly" advice..ha! My single friend and I looked around the decided there was not even a "Mr. Right Now" in the place. laugh

Congrats again on the job and Merry Christmas!

Need to start a new thread per sg, but just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!! Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! I dropped off the kids just now, but get them back tomorrow at noon, so not too bad.

Job is going wonderfully. Only one week into the training but everyone does seem happy and long-term there so that's good. I hope my taking off for another final D hearing, Feb. 15th won't be a huge problem though. I just got the notice from my L. Funny timing...but the D will be a gift in many ways.

Kids were happy with their gifts, and now getting more from their dad. Glad I got to spend some good Christmas time with them the past 2 days.
