Just curious - why would you go upstairs? Did she ask you too? Is that what you want? Does that bring you closer to or further from your goals? (Aside, have you written out your goals?)

That night when the bomb dropped I slept upstairs, that is until I snuck back into our bed at around 4 am, we had discussed not sleeping in the same bed, and I'm not about to leave my house voluntarily.

Not sure it is wrong; just not sure it is right. Think about it. The more days you spend there, the harder it will be to come back down, I think, without an invite or damage from forcing your way in.

What I might do is just stay up and watch television until really late and she's well asleep and then go into our bed.

Out of bed, or the house? I'm worried that if I go to bed at the same time that she does that yes, she might get mad. I don't want to her feel that by me going to bed at the same time she does, that she has to interact with me.

No problem. I meant out of the bed. If it were me, I would definitely try to stay in the room unless she told you to get out (and then I might tell her if she wanted to sleep in different rooms she could go upstairs). Too hard to go back later. But I don't have any problem with your plan of tonight, the first night, sneaking in after she goes to sleep to avoid confrontation and her feeling pressure about interacting in any way.
