OK, new thread, trying to move forward with GAL.

I think it's way past time that I start taking care of me. I've gained way too much weight over the last year and a half, and find myself not caring.

I'm ready to give up the sweat pants. I want to feel better, look better and BE better.

If there's anyone out there wanting to join---come on! I know I'm not the only one in this sitch and not the only one that needs support with weight loss and getting in shape. I wish I was like some of you that can't eat (well I found myself in that boat for about 2 days........but it didn't last).

I'm going to use this thread to journal the good things and bad things that happen with diet/exercise. NO H TALK (well I'll try)......

Dianamo - For the first and only time in my life MLC left me unable to eat properly for months. Previous to that I ate when stressed. So I am a size 6, and have maintained that by cutting out WHEAT pretty much from my diet. Don't know why, but I can eat pretty much anything I want, and my weight stays constant at its lower level.

Try cutting out all wheat products for a couple of weeks and see how you feel. Friends who have tried it have reported the same results as me. Better skin, more energy, and a better regulated gut. You lose weight where you want too as well - if that is your aim. Round the middle part of your body.

I now do eat some wheat based products, but avoid pizza, pasta, wheat bread and cereal, unless it is rude not to. I eat rye bread, and rye crisp bread, rice pasta, thicken sauces [if I eat them] with cornstarch or spelt flour.

As for exercise I am a firm believer in doing the exercise that you enjoy, rather than what you think you ought to do!

I also give myself a regular manicure and pedicure, and keep my hair in great shape. I wear make up every day, and have experimented with this. If you look as good as you can, you feel better about yourself. Shallow but true.

And when you have dieted and exercised, read a good book!

I agree with Angelica;

When I'm stressed I don't eat. I have lost 10 pounds...but not the proper way.. I do go to the gym..but I would love to have my old legs and butt.....I'm working on that but if I'm ever going to get another man I better get on the ball.

I do wear make up all the time, always have and I wear nice clothes most of the time...I just have a very low self esteem...

Anyway,,,let's go,,,I'm ready to lose another 5 and tone the legs and butt.....

I have cut out a lot of fat...and salt...salt retains water making you feel heavy.. My brother is a body builder so I go to him for guidance....

I'm ready when you all are..

I am ready!!! Thanks for the invite Di.

I will be starting a diet I was on years ago that really worked for me. I will admit that I lost 30 pounds the first thirty days after the bomb. Then 20 more the second time.

Now I have bottomed out! I have to work for the last 25 pounds I want to lose.

I will start one of Michael Thurmans Diets...It is basically eating 5 small meals a day....cutting out all sugar and salt from my diet. And drinking at least 100 ozs of water a day. Yes 100oz!! That is alot I know, but the last time I did this diet I lost 14 lbs the first 2 weeks. I was eating healthy...lots of veggies and fruits and protein at every meal.

Plus they say that eating small meals throughout the day will speed up your metabolism....

Im ready!!! Ready to focus my attention on ME!! I love ME!!

Good Luck...Im not starting until Monday. I have to do some grocery shopping to stock up!!

HEy diana,

For about three years I had a great strength-training routine that I did at home. I felt terrific, and although I didn't lose a pound, I went down a size in everything.

I bought a flat weight bench and three sets of dumbbells, and a book targeted for "mature" women. I put together a routine of about 20 different exercises that took no more than 25 minutes. It worked like a charm and I could do it at home while listening to the morning news on the TV.

In the last 6 months I got out of the habit and now have a cracked rib...but truly I can't wait to get back to it.

Also, I can predictably lose five pounds just by increasing my walking by about 2 hours per week.

I hate dieting, it makes me feel deprived, but the exercise feels good and can be scheduled almost any time of day.

Great thread, I too need support and reminders.

Hello,

I am all into simple body weight exercises and walking.

Deep breathing, good posture and all the little things add up and are more effective than 3 days a week at a gym approach I believe.

Eating is quite simple,

Eliminate sugars and starches, ie pasta, bread and things like that. If you have to eat them make sure the whole grains.

Fruit, vegetables and good meats and fish.

One thing I can say is that I have been the same size since I was 18 so something is working.

Good luck,

Hey di,

I like your new thread. Like alot of the others I eat alot of freash veggies and fruit. I also walk. Lately it's only been about 3 miles a day and I don't know if that will slip b/c I start some new classes next week. Not worried b/c 2 are p.e. classes.

I used to dance quite a bit, but that has changed. Perhaps a new style of dance.

HELLO ALL & COUNT ME IN!!

I want to be part of this group. My GAL is to exercise, eat right, lose weight (have a LOT to lose), and take care of ME for a change!!!

My H is a physical person so hasn't liked ML with me because of the weight (said so before bomb) and OW is younger and skinner (SKANK).

I too lost a few lbs after the initial bomb drop but am trying terribly hard not to revert to the old ways of stress eating. I turned to food and HSN/QVC and he turned to OW. A@@

Anyway, starting new gym Monday, using Slim Fast for breakfast & lunch, healthy snacks and light dinners and I've lost a couple of lbs this week. Hope they don't find me this weekend LOL.

I want to look good for me; be a healthy mom for my 2 S's; and if all my DBing can't get through to H then a sexy catch for another man!!
