I talked with W yesterday and she was at my house to feed my cats and pick some yummy blueberries. She also was scared of a bold raccoon who was eating the cats food right in the middle of the day and was not afraid of W. I just hope the coon lets my cats get some food once in a while.

As for myself and the kids, we are having a great time on our trip. The kids were excited to see a bunch of pronghorn with babies and a jack rabbit.

Hey kerry,

That's great that you went by my old house! It took us 4 years to fix it up: gutted the interior and reframed, ripped off log siding and re-stuccoed, new roof, etc. I'll never do that again!

Hope you and kids are enjoying the trip - you're going to some of the places I most love. Course it's a bit cooler in the fall!

How are kids doing with traveling? Are they starting to long for home?

The kids are doing just great and having a lot of fun. I have their Nintendo DS for the non-scenic roads. They also like playing their wireless games in the tent. At each NP and monument/state park, I have been getting the kids to do the junior ranger program.

We even had the rangers put our picture on their web site in CanyonLands NP for June 27...

Big version here...

Today we camped at Bryce and it rained and was cool which was quite a relief.

We finished our road trip vacation on Sunday and I have updated my blog at:

http://the-kerry-chronicles.blogspot.com/

After driving through all the desert roads of Nevada, Utah, California and Arizona, it sure was a pleasure to drive through green Oregon again. I took a route back ("The Oregon Outback") that I have never drove before and it was very beautiful.

I think my cats have been eaten by some urban wildlife (coyote's or raccoon's) as I have not seen them since I have been back. W says she saw them on Saturday when she came to feed them. I am kind of bummed out about losing Donny as he was such a good cat. W might take the kids to the animal shelter tomorrow to see if maybe the cats were picked up, but I kind of doubt it.

I am trying to get a hold of my L's assistant to get a status of where we are in the D process. The last I knew, the court will dismiss the case by July 26 if no action is taken.

On Sunday, I got a little upset at W on the phone because she had not moved any of her stuff out of my house during our 23 days we were gone. I asked her how she would feel if she was in my shoes. I think she understands now and yesterday she started moving some of her clothes out.

I agree it is frustrating that W is living with E.D. but seems in no hurry to move out of your house...grr.

On a better note I am glad you and the kids had such a great trip. I have never had that kind of time with my parents and I am sure they will treasure it!

Welcome back home Kerry....

Everytime I go on vacation, even to Hawaii, I am still astounded at the beauty of Oregon when I get back. It really does rival even Hawaii. People who have never been here have no idea how truly beautiful it is. I grew up in the gorge, one of the most beautiful parts of the NW, and it still takes my breath away to drive through there, even though I saw it literally every day of my life as a child.

I hope you kittys come back. :0(

Let us know!

Hey DQ - Shhhh about Oregon. We dont want to let the secret out and have too many other people move here. I will say, Oregon is quite diverse in that it has a little of everything - deserts, ocean, forests, alpine moutains, rivers, big and small lakes.

Speaking of the fabulous gorge, I had a friend that worked at a gas station in Cascade Locks. He told me that once a couple from Arkansas stopped by and asked how to get to the Columbia River gorge. He told them "You're in it". I think maybe they were looking for the Oneota gorge within the Columbia River gorge.

LOL! That's a good one (how do we get to the gorge).

You are right about being one of America's best kept secrets. But the thing is, we only don't want them moving to Portland. They can move to any other part of the state if they want...as no one lives there! hee hee! I grew up in a town of population 2,000 and another town pop. 200. And there are hundreds of towns like that! They can all move there.
