Do you want to watch the Italian Job tomorrow night since we all have it? We could start at 6 or 7 your time.

If he's sitting through Grey's Anatomy while his lady companion has her top off, what is he watching?? \:D

kat - can't make it for movie night I'm afraid.

bridgestone - glad you dropped by.

I'm afraid today was a "sick" day. Overwhelmed with everything - feel like I'm going to start hyperventilating sometimes. But I'm working on it, doing what I can do and trying to move forward. If there's one thing my sitch has taught me, it's that the job well-done is only half-appreciated. Better to take the time needed for your own mental stability than drive yourself over a cliff.

So, the sun is shining, the weather is pleasant, and my wireless extends out to my patio, where a strategically placed umbrella shades my computer screen.

The only drawback is that the fruit I didn't have time to pick - the plums and apricots - are dropping and fermenting. There's a slightly sweet, slightly sour, pungency hanging coyly in the air. Like fecund perfume. squirrels barrel wildly across the tree limbs and a jay squawks its annoyance.

Hey there Lodo - sounds like you've been on The Soup again!!!

Sorry you've had a "down" day - focus on Scotland - you'll have a fabulous time - although dispel any thoughts of the possibility of it raining - its almost a racing certainty:

Found this:

"It's impossible to underestimate the influence of the weather. More often than not, it will be windy and rainy, though you can have all four seasons in one day. The wind-chill factor is not to be taken lightly, and there is often a dampness or drizzle in the air, even when it's not actually raining. Even in late spring and summer, when there can be long dry spells with lots of sunshine, you still need to come prepared for wind, rain and, most frustrating of all, the occasional sea fog. The one good thing is that midges are less of a problem, except on Hoy"

I hear wreck diving is pretty popular there...

Recommend deet - as strong as you can stand it for the midges!

Best - GFI

lol - thanks GFI! I'm going to Hoy on part of my trip. Ugh, I hate midges. It's so hard to collect enough of them to make a decent snack - LOL \:D

But you know what? I bike all winter long in some pretty nasty rainstorms and I'm still alive. I took an 8-day bike trip in SW CO crossing a pass per day with average elevation gain/loss of 3-4,000 feet and in the midst of heavy downpour, sleet, and lightning storms. So I think I'll make it.

Best lesson one can learn is that high-priced lightweight protective clothing that can be worn in layers is usually worth the cost.

"At last! A nosing kit specifically designed for scotch Whisky!"

Well, I'm staying in Kirkwall my first and last day so will take a swing (or is that swig) by. One thing I do love is a fine whisky.

forgot to give my update about ring lady.

Last night - no ring. I got to class a little late and she moved chairs aside ensuring I had a place to sit by her.

She then started talking about print-making and I let it slide that I was a graphic designer - caught her attention. Then, after class, she started walking with me out of the building but another classmate joined us and then took over the conversation. After a bit I left - ring lady continued talking with classmate.

So, I know it's stupid of me to be thinking of dating. And quite frankly it's scary to see how I responded to her - like a love-starved puppy. Geeso, I don't even know if she's married or not! I guess it's been so long since I've had any positive female attention that I'm ready to marry the first woman who looks my way. Bad sign. It'd probably be best for everyone if I put my monk's robes back on and re-cloister myself....
