First, Gypsy, well said and we can all only wish for the best right now. To do anything else would be counter-productive.

Hey Kerry, you said:

Does this mean XW had no time outs left to throw the red flag for a 2nd look from the booth?

School was canceled again for the kids today and I wanted to go to work so I asked XW if she could take care of the kids today and keep them overnight as I think school will be canceled again tomorrow as there is more snow forecast. It is great that we both can cooperate in this regards. For instance, I am taking the kids to the Nutcracker this weekend with the Girl Scouts even though it is XW's weekend.

I drove the kids this morning to XW's place for the first time. It is out in the country near a community called Stafford. The massive homes around that area are absolutely beautiful amonst the rolling hills (the snow gives it a special charm). When I dropped the kids off, X was out on the road to guide me in. She is moving slow still from her big operation last week. As I was unloading some of her boxes (and the kids sleds) from my van, OM68 came outside and we shook hands. She had told me before that he is a young 68...well he looks like a grandpa to me.

I now have a bit of time tonight to work out and do some Christmas shopping. And I found a good local mortgage company that I meet with today that had a great rate for the refinance so that I can pay off the XW.

Kerry - I read your post and had to look up the weather myself. I thought we were done with the percipitation for a few days. WRONG! I think Coos Bay & south on the coast is the only section of OR that wasn't hit with snow the last few days. It did try to snow for about 20 minutes Sunday night, then stopped. Our HS was the only one in the area open and lo and behold someone called in a bomb threat. My D was irriated, since she only has 2 classes at the HS (in college for rest) and it happened the last 15 minutes of 2 period. In her mind the closure didn't do a thing for her.

Anyway - Good luck with the christmas shopping...drive safe (meaning watch out for the other idiots on the road). I know we have a lot of black ice out yet this morning here. I took the afternoon off and am hoping to accomplish the last of my shopping too.

Hi Amy -

You coast dwellers dont ever get much snow or freezes. That was one of my main reasons for moving my sail boat to the coast - so that I did not have to winterize it.

I have not been there since I was a kids, but I understand that Brookings, down by the border, has very nice weather in comparison to the rest of the coast because of the "Brookings (aka Chetco) effect".

That is why I moved to Oregon from Idaho...no more freezing winters! The last few years I've started to wonder though. It is onlly 28 outside right now and my office heater cannot keep up.

Brookings is in that banana belt. I think I live in the "wrong" coastal town. lol I have to keep telling myself..only 6 more months..only 6 more months. When D graduates Mexico here we come!

So your going to be like my mom who hibernates every winter for 3-4 months in Hawaii.

I've wondered why Brookings has such a small population - seems like a great place to live.

Great minds think alike. :):):)

I've always wondered the same thing. It is a cute little town. Then again, it is pretty cut off from everything. The closest "big" town is where I live, 2 hours and in the winter time with slides and such on 101 you can't count on getting here. The other direction is Grants Pass and that's about 3 hours and there again, weather depending.

Eventually the college will have a campus there, they already own the property.
