GG:

It took a lot of courage for xh to talk to you. Sounds like he has really done a complete 180 in his life. This is wonderful.

I hope your h will go to the dtr and to C sessions.

GG,

I didn't think your h was lying, just wasn't clear to me how he meant it about the "12 pills". At least he confided in you. He needs help. Period. But again, you are trusting his ability to show up when he promises with several days "planned" and I don't know if he CAN, let alone WILL keep those promises... Are you getting that?

I mean, can't you make some back up plans for child care? I worry that you'll have other areas of your life hurt due to depending on someone you cannot depend on, and might lose your job, if he lets you down again, even if due to his own illness. This isn't being punitive or even much of a GAL, but merely planning for YOUR safety and children's and your financial welfare. Make sense? I mean what if your h needs to be hospitalized? Not to get negative, but what if?
So, (sigh) sorry.

Another thing I was thinking about.

The dtr appt and the C sessions--one day he may feel like that is what he wants to do, the next day, he may not and so on........

Be prepared for that as well.

I haven't posted to you before but I can add something to the depression issue. I have what is called biological depression. the doctor says it is hereditary and a brain chemistry issue. I have taken ADs for the last 9 years starting with Prozac...not the one I would recommend...now I am on Welbutrin. You CANNOT stop taking them cold turkey without falling into a deeper depression. If you do it too many times, you run the risk of not being able to rebound from the depression.

If a person wishes to discontinue taking ADs (which I tried the right way but my dr and I decided it was not the best avenue for me) you must wean yourself from them slowly by reducing the dosage gradually by following Drs instructions.

I hope your H gets back on them and finds the type that works the best for him.

Take care,

Everything happens for a reason, maybe Dad needs to find that it isn't better out there, he needs to realize how good he had it here. Maybe he will find God and that is the most important thing when he finds Him he will know he is supposed to come home.

ANM:

You just made me think of my MIL. When she turned 50, she began having episodes of depression and some other things. SHe was put on meds and yes, she would go off them cold turkey. She would space out and just sit as if she were in a trance.

My FIL, at least one time, had to get a court order to get her admitted to the hospital so they could regulate the meds!

That was almost 30 years ago.

Now, he is in charge of giving her the meds and making sure she takes them.

I feel for her because she has depression, has catatonic schizo, and also has alzheimer's.

She is the type of MIL anybody would want to have.

H was here today. Looked very depressed and down. Life is overwhelming him right now. I mentioned the appointments I made and he just said let's discuss another day.

He did agree to the MC and we have an appointment next week. He agreed to the Dr appointment next week too. We have yet to set the appointment for the IC, but he asked if I could take care of that one too.

Right now though, he just couldn't think and did not want to make any of the calls. He is willing to go, but needs help arranging things for him. I don't mind. It makes me feel good to help him. I know he is struggling very much.

He will be over tomorrow. I hope he is NOT so down. He just looks so overwhelmed. I kept saying are you ok. He said yes, but he really is NOT.

Please pray for my h. He needs that spiritual intervention right now.

Hey, Glam.

It's a really good thing that your H seems to at least see that he has a real problem and is asking for help. That is the biggest step!

I'm sending good karma!!

Take care!!!!

just be prepared in the event he backs out at the last minute from those appointments.

i have seen my husband text me saying help me more than once only to find that he will not do anything to change his situation and before you know it, he seems okay again but still not wanting help.

do not be surprised if your h does cancel. i hope he doesn't but he might.
