I got some weird news at work today - part of the recent porkulus bill had a new law that makes it such that my company has to pay 65% of my exW's health care insurance. Even though we were divorced back on Dec 8, it is retroactive going back to Oct for people that were insured through my company. I guess COBRA now has some fangs and venom.

I try to look on the bright side of things - that means if she ever complains about having to share some of the kids expenses, I can point out that she has been freed up of about $300 a month in health care she was previously paying for.

I will never get your laws and status and agreements... For us here it is easy : wife gets screwed, husband lives a comfortable life. No 401K sharing, no going back asking for half of what the wife threw in the marriage, VERY little money for CS... I found an article that said that BECAUSE CS money is so little, Divorced women association didnt accept the change of law regarding joint custody. The thinking behind it is :you dont give me any money and even after court's ruling, if you refuse to fullfil your obligations there is no way I can legally force you to, and you will have a saying in the kdis' lives?

Come to think of it, sounds reasonable. That's why all the lawyers I talked to said I am crazy to offer that to him.

Don't take this the wrong way Kalni..but..what state is that? I'm moving there....LOLOL (teasing). Look at my state: W gets half of your IRA, even if you saved it all prior to M...H gets 50% or less visitation...gets booted from the house....W gets percentage of his practice.....

I had told her that big ship cruises were for old people and that I was still wanting to get back into owning a sailboat for cruising some day. Maybe in a couple years we will go to Greece, but is a cruise the best way to see it? We would definitely bring the kids.

She is planning a trip to Vietnam with her brother in Feb 2010 (Tet holiday), however, I cant see going as my kids are in school and I tend to want to save my vacation time until summer with the kids. She is really looking forward to it as the other 2 times she went she was under house arrest by her relatives - single girls aren't allowed out too much. I took a short trip through Vietnam a few years ago with my son and brother in law and I really enjoyed it (better than Thailand).

Bad news for any of you in the Lonely Beaver Club... The town (Beaverton) next to mine has just executed 3 busy beavers. Dam!
