this might not seem divorce busting related, but i am trying to figure out what the h3ll is going on in my house.

GODSMACK. it is some kind of music band. my 40 something wife has been listening to it for months over and over. none of my friends, coworkers, or family have ever heard of them. I havent the slightest clue. my daughter showed me some videos off youtube that 'mom' had bookmarked. wtf.

anybody know anything about this band? genre, message they are trying to get across, alure to 40+ years old? is this somekind of witchcraft thing? help. Steve.

Haha, when I saw the thread. I thought some thing extreme had happened and you felt gobsmacked with a typo.

For what it's worth ... there's quite a profile on them in Wikipedia. They're heavy metal and I guess their music might appeal to some 40 year olds ...

Gonna point her this way - she'll give you a whole track listing smile

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't put much thought into it. I am mid 30's and have listened to them since they first came onto the music scene, mid 90's or so. Their music covers alot of area, very hard and heavy to very heavy acoustic sound. As far as why she would be listening, just sounds like maybe she is finding some angry music, but I don't know that they necessarily have a message in their music compared to some other bands out there who try to have one. If you're worried about the band's name, they actually stole the name from the name of a song from another band.

ok. the reason i asked this was my daughter comes to me when she is freaked out by her mom and she said she listens to this when she gets on a kick of looking up spells and chanting.

Okay, well that may be a different story then. Witchcrafting would fall into an entirely different category. WIcken would be a category that I would not even begin to claim to know anything about.

Hi Steve...

Mac sent me over here to enlighten you on Godsmack...

Excellent music IMO, been listening to them for years - Falls along the lines of Disturbed, Shinedown, Staind, Creed, Metallica etc...

As Shocked said - Angry music if you will...

They fall under the rock/hard rock category...

They aren't out promoting any type of witchcraft though Sully (the lead singer) is a practicing Wiccan -

"Wicca is a new religion that emphasizes growth through harmony in diversity, knowledge, wisdom, and exploration" -

Their motto is - If it harm none, do what you will.

If your W is looking up chants, spells etc...based on listening to them, then she isn't taking the correct message from them.

I hope this helps...Let me know if you need anything else smile
