Couch to 5k program
This is the one I did. If you do not run at all right now. Take 4 weeks to get up to 30 minutes walking 4 times a week.

As for pod casts.

These work well.

Podcasts

Make Sure you stick to the run walk. And if it is really hot do not run for more than 3 minutes. Just keep the distance but do 3 and 1's

Then do the walk.

Its more important to get the distance in. Not the running.

I'm confused. Is this "Couch to 5K" program something new for the Wii? Do they make it for Gamecube? Is there any zombie killing in it?

Actually, I did the First Day to 5k by Podrunners intervals. I thought it was MUCH better than Couch to 5k. It included the music, which was the right BPM, and.... you could add on to do an 8k, 10k, etc... http://www.djsteveboy.com/intervals.html

It's also on iTunes, as a free PodCast.

Now, you're making me feel guilty. I guess I'll have to start again! It works!

Ok, thanks for the helpful tips (and the jokes)... smile

Mind, since that is a podcast, I assume I would need an ipod Nano or better to play them? Pretty sure my shuffle doesn't play podcasts...

Hi BobbiJo, Have you considered buying a running watch? I've always used the Timex Ironman - it has an 'interval timer' which you can use to set any combination or walk/run intervals. It beeps every time you are to switch, and counts your intervals too. And they're cheaper than a new ipod. (Here in Canada they run about $70). Good luck with the running!

Hey, thanks for posting the links! Great timing-I had just decided to start working towards a 5k and this put me into action. I started today. Does it get easier I hope??? I'm going to try to do it earlier in the day so will be cooler. It was brutal at 11:30. BTW, I have a small little mp3 player and I found directions on the internet about putting podcasts on there. You save it to your desktop and put in folder view, click on My Computer, then double-click on your Mp3 player, find the "music" folder or "podcasts" folders (it worked in both folders for me) and drag the podcast icon to either music or podcasts. I did them both b/c I wasn't sure which one, and I was able to pull it up by both on my ipod; I could have just done one of them, but now I guess I have a backup.
