Yeah, that's kind of what I thought too with my engineer guy. frown I guess I'll just wait and see....Like you, I don't want to be the pursuer. It seems like lots of guys stop by and view my profile, but no message or a smiley face or anything???

I just deleted my okcupid profile (free site) and boy were there some "winners" on there.

I'll just keep living my life and we'll see who shows up!

Funny - I've had the best luck on OKCupid so far! Coffee date guy was from there, oh-so-handsome-and-clever 27 year old is from there. (Who, speaking of which, just contacted me smile He's been gone home for Xmas and I hadn't heard from him since the 23rd - I was starting to think he'd had his fun with me. Then he contacts me tonight - his grandpa died and the house has been full of relatives in for the funeral etc - just winding down.)

I'm on Match too and I thought perhaps since it was a paid site there would be a better quality of guys there, but I'm not thinking I see any real difference - in fact I see a lot of the same guys on both.

No, I haven't OT - I browsed it and it seemed pretty much the same, even saw some of the same faces again.

Hmmm.... Is there a local artsy newspaper/mag that is distributed in bars? They might have a site too.

I'm on a site called Fitness Singles since I am so active and want to (finally) be with someone who is active as well. The quality of men on there seems to be a cut above the rest.

The engineer guy emailed me right back, but I haven't read it yet. We'll see what he has to say. smile

I just bought a book for dating online at midlife, so I'll share any secrets I find with everyone!

UGH!!!!
Okay, so supposedly the 27 year old was coming back to LA on the 10th - at least that's what he'd told me last month. I haven't heard from him since the 4th - wasn't really expecting to hear from him until his return. Given how terrible his cell coverage has been at his folks, I thought it was pretty good that we'd managed two chats while he was there.

So, anyway - when I didn't hear from him on the 10th or the 11th I didn't think much of it - with all the weather and flight delays, I figured maybe his return flight had gotten pushed out. No biggie. And truthfully, I was still expecting a 50/50 chance he'd chicken out of this whole deal anyway.

Sent him a short email yesterday - and it bounces back as undeliverable! frown

I was prepared for the likelihood of him chickening out of meeting me - it IS weird. But I totally didn't see THIS coming - just closing his email addie without a word??? He seemed so happy to chat with me last week - he was all smiles on our video chat.

I'm feeling just - stupid - right now. I really thought I was better at reading people than this.

Well, his email might just be full, especially if it is an academic or business account.

But, before long, he's going to start looking a lot like a scam guy.

Unable to make regular contact, contact only at his convenience, never able to meet, blah blah blah.

Better to stick with meeting people IRL right away if there seems to be a connection.
