Hi All,

I am sad today, but I know it will pass. I am going thru my collection of bible verses, prayers, the "Faith…Trust…Hope…Confidence…Love…Attitude" story I got from my friend, etc. I'm doing my best to keep a PMA and take things one day at a time. Well, I guess it proves one thing -- I am human after all. LOL

Why am I sad? Last night. I went to dinner with a few friends and had a real good time...until...a trigger. You may recall, both my W and I are HUGE U2 fans. "With or Without You" by U2 started playing in the restaurant. I could've excused myself and stepped outside for a few minutes, but it was "too late." The lyrics were already in my mind:

This in particular which is right at the start (from "With or Without You" by U2):

"See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side.
I wait for you.
Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you."

I can't stop living and I love doing GAL things. I know it has helped me. I'm trying to look at last night as a minor setback, yet I'm still sad about it. I guess I had to vent, and I know you will all understand. So, I'm venting. frown

BTW, I pray for everyone collectively on this board nightly, and still dedicate a prayer individually to those who are going thru a extremely rough period.

Sandi, if you peek in on my thread, I pray for you, your H and D every evening. I hope things are going better.

Later all...

Bob

Its hard when a song that can come out of no where triggers those feelings. I have the same thing happen quite often. Stay strong Bob, praying for you also. It's seeming like many of us are having a rough few days but we will get through it together.

Fogg, what would I do without you? Thank you.

I agree, it does seem like many of us are having a rough few days, but we will get through it together! It must be something in the air. LOL

Thanks Bob. I appreciate it very much.

It is not about what you feel should work in your M. It is about doing the work that gets the right results. Do what works!

Hi Bob. If you wernt human you would t be here. Sorry your sad but you have love for W and that's not something you can turn off. This is a long process and W has her own demons to deal with.

Carry on being Bob , your a decent man and working to improve. That's all Bob can control , let go of the rest and use the song to remember good times

Take care Rd

Bob,

Sorry to hear that you were triggered by that song, but I understand. That is one of the few songs that triggers me too.

I hope that you're doing better today and have some GAL activities planned!

Hugs

One of the worst music triggers for me is going into a restaurant and they have a 70s station on with all those sappy love and failed love songs. It is not like I like them or that they mean anything significant for me and my M. Maybe I just went through too many young heartaches when that stuff was more often heard on the radio or out and about and it has those connotations. But, please spare us being subjected to that downer-fest when we are out trying to have an enjoyable evening with friends and family.

And you are human. It [censored] and is wonderful. Sometimes both at the same time. Sometimes it's like watching a ping pong match. Sometimes we get on a streak and think it is going to be all one way, then get surprised when that abruptly changes. You are in touch with your feelings, good and bad. You are sticking with them rather than running for quick false relief. Being really alive takes courage, doesn't it?

Hang in there.

Sorry to hear about the song Bob, I've been teaching a fitness class and had to stop, run over to the computer and forward to the next song. Everyone knows what's going on so they're ok with it.

Triggers are out there. It's impossible to live a full life with a partner and not have bits and pieces of your relationship marked by events, songs, geography and more. like Asitis said, you're in touch with your feelings. This makes you a strong man. It would be easy to just stuff those feelings and then let them fester.

Sounds like you handled it well. You felt it, let it sting but not break you, came on here to vocalize it, and now hopefully have breathed through it.

Thank you for your prayers, I know you pray for us all sincerely appreciate it.
