Very sorry for your loss Stander. Thank you for sharing your story and reminding all of us to be mindful of the bigger picture in our struggle for the well being and future of our children.

AS - condolence to you and your family. This is so tragic.

I deeply concur with your sentiments about how parents need to put their $hit on the side and parent their kids and create a loving and safe environment for their development. Everything shows how adult lives are shaped so deeply by childhood experiences. The future of our children is paramount.

AS I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for helping me through this period in my life, and reminding me how important it is to stay involved, and be a good parent.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it! He was much younger than me so I never really did know him very well, just saw him once or twice a year at family stuff. My dad wasn't a good dad to me and my siblings when we were growing up and was even worse to my half-brother. I think that's the real lesson here is kids are very heavily molded by how they are brought up. That's not to say kids from a loving home don't sometimes pick the wrong path, but it's unusual whereas kids from an ambivalent or negative home have a very low success rate.

You are quite welcome! It's hard to come here sometimes and see people hurting so much, but it's worth it to see success stories like yours whether recon happens or not. I think that's what it's all about is helping people save themselves!

AS,

So sorry! I have always admired how you and your ex get along in regards to what's best for the kids. I model that with my ex in regards to the kids.
