Here is a great letter that I received from our friend Kent! ******************** Dear Michelle,
It’s been a long wild ride, but I think the roller coaster has lost it’s luster for my wife and I. Our relationship has reached a point where we are both working on making it better rather than tearing it apart as was the case last October when I came to your Bulletin Board.
I found your book a week or two before my wife brought up the separation talk in a counseling session. When she said those words I was instantly sucked into a dark tunnel that I never thought I would emerge from. The day after the bomb, I searched the web in hope to find you, as you seemed to be the only person that offered hope. I found the DB-BB, which gave me the insight, the strength and support to apply the DB principles. The participants are truely caring and generous people.
I was truly clueless as to why my wife would do this to me before I found the book. I thought I was the model husband. There was no limit to what I would do in effort to make my wife happy. Self-reflection helped me see that I was less than perfect. As a matter of fact I was far from perfect. Another part of my problem was that I relied on my wife for my happiness and resented her when she did not give as much as I thought I was giving to the relationship.
My 180’s were all changes to my personal behavior. I gave myself to the process whole heartedly, as it was the only chance I saw that might result in a positive outcome. The 180’s have proven to affect everything and all relationships in my life. With these passing months, I have become happier and stronger as an individual. More so than at any time in my life. My 180’s also provided rather quick results at home. While hesitant, the wife has been slowly returning to the loving and caring person that I fell in love with.
I am convinced that we would be separated and probably divorced had it not been for your book and this bulletin board. I know that I already thanked you at your February KLA seminar, but I wanted to put my gratitude in writing for you to see and share if you please. I will always treasure the book you autographed for me. It is certainly the most significant document that I have ever read.
I am hesitant to say that our divorce has been busted. I don’t know if anyone can truly say that unless they are speaking for the moment. It seems this process is a lifelong pursuit. I have learned it is easy to slip back into old patterns that would most likely yield similar results. It’s also easy to say “Do what works and stop what doesn’t”. It’s another thing to apply it
